Just for today, when you are invited to the book club party, offer to bring the vegetable platter with a homemade dip. Offer to make a huge salad. Offer to bring a protein to the party at the senior center. At the gift exchange, bring raw chocolate bars without sugar, preserved, fermented vegetables, sushi or kombucha tea.
There are many ways we can celebrate without the focus being on food.For example, rather than dessert hop to friends on Christmas Eve, try going for a long walk with your family and friends to watch the colorful decorated neighborhood lights. The cold air is invigorating and you may discover a new favorite light display! Instead of stuffing your faces and then watching football all day, this Christmas day, try celebrating the spirituality of the holiday with a fast, broken with tea and prayer. Go outside for a hike. Walk in the woods, play tag in the snow. Play catch or frisbee. do something that honors yourself and the longevity with agility you so desire.
