"We become the grasses, the trees, the flowers, and the fruits and vegetables. When we decompose, we are becoming the fertilizer for the generations of harvests to come. So, we become part of the future people and the whole earth."
These comforting and philosophical words he shared with me many times on Sunday nights. As a child, I was afraid to go to bed Sunday nights because I thought I would die before Monday morning, and I did not want to miss school! I became sad and scared. He always made me feel calmer and deeply loved, and made the difficult things seem simple.
Daddy broke down huge decisions into smaller tasks, and he often weighed the pros and cons of a decision on a piece of paper with a line down the middle. He wrote the pros on one side and the cons on the other side. Whichever list was longer, he would go with, and he helped me many times with my life decisions in this manner too.
What have your elders taught you? Have those things served you your whole life? What have you disengaged from in their advice and why?
I want to hear from you! Please subscribe and comment anywhere on this website. Please send me your email for Monday newsletters linking to the blog and videos. Please share my work with friends on your social media.
In gratitude,
