The woman who hit my car was driving a small Toyota, and it was pretty much totaled. My auto (Honda minivan) had a little dent in the rear bumper. Nobody was hurt. We both pulled over and got out of our cars.
She was very apologetic and I encouraged her to calm down. The things we can replace, but it is a miracle that we were okay. I asked her and my kids to hold hands and pray a grateful prayer.
After the prayer we exchanged insurance information. She told me I was the nicest person she ever got into an accident with!
Since then, I feel like I am noticing the little gifts the universe gives me with more regularity. The colors of the sunset and sunrise glow more richly, the flowers are more brilliant. A smile towards me is warmer than before. I feel as if the very volume of my existence has been turned up. The accident could have been a death sentence. It was a miracle we were all okay, especially after observing her damaged vehicle.
I ask you, does it take an accident or grave illness for us to realize how valuable our lives are? I want to hear from you. Please share your stories of the a-ha moments.
Blessings,
