As a life and wellness coach I encourage my clients to eat the most nutrient dense foods. The whole grains items must be highly processed in order to be digested by the body.
The more refinement of whole grains, the higher the glycemic index. The glycemic index indicates the blood sugar level in the body. If we have a lot of sugar in the blood stream we have a lot of energy, then the energy is rapidly used up and there is a drop in energy. It is known as an energy crash.
As an alternative to processed whole grain foods, I suggest getting carbs from vegetables! The fiber in the vegetables slows down the glucose sugar energy streaming through the body and has a more even distribution of timing so there is not a crash like in the processed food variety.
I hope this helps.
