What is the "I AM" theory? Suspend all thoughts for a few minutes about what you are not, and tell yourself , I am ......! Fill in the blank. This is uplifting and positive self-talk.
I have voices in my head telling me what I'm not and what I can't do every day. I am not a rock star on tour or a classical pianist at Carnegie Hall this evening. "I can't" usually translates into "I won't."
Stop with the not and no. What if you could .......?
What are you right now that is positive, uplifting, and powerful to the universe?
When my son Golden was in second grade, the teacher had to come up with an auction project for the whole class. I suggested an I AM project. I photographed them holding up their papers telling in bold marker art what they were! They were so proud to share who they were. The black and white dramatic photos were framed and sold at auction to parents and guardians.
This was probably my favorite photo shoot of all time! It boosted self confidence in the kids, and led to discussions of future attributes of character rather than jobs.
I was extremely proud when my son held up his paper and smiled with his statement: I am a happy spirit. I tear up even now when I pass the photo on his dresser. It touches me.
